In what is being described as “mayhem”, the uptick in violent crime is forcing more and more people to pack up and flee Seattle, costing even more jobs that our community needs right now.

Brian Nordwall, who owns Seattle E-bike, told KOMO News that the downtown area has become like open season for crime, and he has had enough.  “Downtown Seattle is Tombstone Arizona,” Nordwall said. “There is no law and order. There is no civil authority and everybody knows it.”

Things have gotten so bad that Nordwall is now moving his business out of downtown Seattle.

According to the KOMO report, the number of killings in Seattle has already surpassed 2019 totals, with four months left in the year.

Christina Dioguardi, a Seattle business owner for over 20 years talked about the pressures facing the downtown community and that she rarely sees police patrolling in the area these days. “This has nothing to do with politics, this just has to do with the survival of our city,” Dioguardi told KOMO News.

Ms. Dioguardi nailed it. This is not about politics, it’s about the need to chart a new course with new solutions that are bold and realistic for Seattle. Unfortunately, our City Council continues to prove that it simply isn’t up to the job.
